In March, NIMC unveiled a mobile application enabling Nigerians to rectify NIN data discrepancies conveniently.

This application facilitates corrections for name, date of birth, and phone numbers erroneously registered with NIN.

Application Process

Users must register on the application or online portal to access the modification service. Upon registration, people are prompted to input their NIN, last name, and email address before proceeding with the data modification process.

Fees for Data Modification

NIMC announced fees for data modification in late March:

  • Name modification: N1,552.2
  • Date of birth correction: N16,340
  • Email and address change: N1,552.2

Introduction of National ID Card with Payment Functionality

In early April, NIMC disclosed plans to issue a National ID card with payment functionality, catering to various social and financial services.

Registered citizens and legal residents with NIN will be eligible to request this card, which will feature both debit and prepaid card attributes, accommodating both banked and unbanked individuals.

These developments underscore NIMC’s commitment to enhancing identity management services and facilitating access to crucial identification documents for Nigerians.
