iWorks Scholarship (Spring 2024) child or spouse of an active-duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces or Veteran

The iWorks Scholarship will award one outstanding spouse or child of a military service member who shows a potential to excel in college studies in the area of STEM a $2,500 scholarship to be applied toward the student’s ongoing higher-level academic education.

A student must attend an accredited community college or four-year college/university.

This scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students.

Eligibility

-Be a child or spouse of an active-duty member of the U.S. Armed Forces or veteran.

-Be enrolled in an accredited community college, four-year college, or university. Undergraduate students must be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year or pursuing a Master’s degree.

Be a well-rounded student who shows an aptitude for STEM subjects and excels in overall academic studies.

-Be in good standing with the college/university with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA.

Students must major in a STEM-related area of study in support of the mission of AFCEA.

Qualifications for STEM majors related to the mission of AFCEA include:

aerospace engineering, astronomy, biometry/biometrics, chemical engineering, computer engineering, computer forensics science, computer programming, computer science, computer systems, cybersecurity, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, geospatial science, industrial engineering, information science, information technology, information resource management, intelligence, mathematics, mechanical engineering, network engineering, network security, operations research, physics, robotics engineering, robotics technology, statistics, strategic intelligence, and telecommunications engineering.

Application Process

Submissions must include the following:

Completed Application: In addition to basic information, the application also includes a few short-answer questions. Applications open on January 1st.

Official Transcript: with completed courses and grades, including grades from the Fall 2023 semester.

Submit electronically through the school to edfoundation@afcea.org.

If electronic submission of your transcript is not possible, please send the official document to the AFCEA address listed below to arrive by the deadline date. Please label your supporting document (name, transcript) (example: Bob Smith Transcript)

Letter of Recommendation: at least one letter of recommendation, which must be from a professor in the student’s STEM major field of study. Have your reference submit their letter of recommendation in pdf form via email to edfoundation@afcea.org.Please label your supporting document (name, LOR) (example: Bob Smith LOR)

Essay: A brief essay, in 250 words or less, describing financial need.
